Mission

East Chicago Parks and Recreation will provide essential services, facilities and programs necessary for the positive development and well being of the citizens of East Chicago.

Parks

East Chicago’s parks and recreation  department provides more than 30,000 residents with an attractive and safe environment. Places of beauty and tranquility, where individuals and families have the opportunity to absorb some of nature’s benefits. Come listen to bands, gather for celebrations, and to participate in various sports. There are areas for children and families to play in the sand, swim in the pool or beautiful Lake Michigan, or run and/or walk around a track.

From our city neighborhoods to our beautiful lakefront, East Chicago parks offers natives and tourists the chance to explore a fun atmosphere, relax in nature or try something new. The local park scene boasts new playground and exercise equipment,  walking trails, volleyball courts, baseball and softball fields,  cypress gardens and beautiful art work which include tree sculptures and our amazing annual display of traveling sculptures.

Mayor Anthony Copeland and the East Chicago Park Department are dedicated to maintaining and improving these valuable resources and safe havens throughout our wonderful neighborhoods. The East Chicago Park & Recreation Team’s goal is to provide the highest quality recreational programs aimed to educate, challenge, and safeguard our citizens. Come visit one of our many beautiful parks today!
