Mission
The mission of the East Chicago Police Department is to serve and protect the residents, commercial, civic, and industrial sectors of our community as well as each and every person or persons who travel to, from or through our City. We will utilize the technological advances in communications, record storage and retrieval, and criminology with the ability to expedite information immediately, accurately and precisely for the greater benefit of law enforcement for the people that we serve.
Vision
The vision of the East Chicago Police Department is that all of the various sectors of the City of East Chicago will work together in making our community a safe place to raise a family, run a business, to work within our boarders, or to visit or pass through. It is well known that the police department can not resolve the problems that face society alone. Only through cooperation and participation can we address the issues before us. It is our vision that we will partner our staff and technological advancements and equipment with the general public and concerned citizens of our city to ensure that the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is guaranteed for one and all.
Value
We value the knowledge and experience of each and every Police Officer within our department. Along with that, we value the services of the Emergency Medical Service Department and the Fire Department. We value the safety and integrity of our communities and neighborhoods. We value the ability to live in a city free from drugs, gangs and criminal activity. We value the facilities and equipment provided to us by the citizens of the City of East Chicago and will work diligently to see that each person is provided equal justice under the Law. We value the concept that it is our responsibility and charge to serve and protect the citizens of our city.
