Sharing is Caring

has been an ongoing character-building program for over 8 years.  Children are taught the importance of sharing, caring and showing compassion towards others.  From collecting non-perishable food item, collecting change for the needy and visiting the elderly this program has taken on many tasks.  Due to the recent earthquake disaster in Haiti the community centers will stress the value of helping not only within their community but also anywhere assistance is needed.

¢hange for Haiti will be held through the month of February.

Character building and disaster awareness lessons will be implemented.  Everyone will be asked to give to help provide some much needed change to the families in Haiti.  All donations will be given to a charity for Haiti.

Also as part of the Haiti relief effort all community centers will be donation sites for Friends of Northwest Indiana, Campaign Haiti 2010. “Relief from the Streets” collection boxes will be available until February 15th.  Please contact the Recreation office at 391-8476 for a list of specific items needed.
