East Chicago’s parks provide more than 30,000 East Chicagoans with an attractive and safe environment. They are places of beauty and tranquility, where individuals and families have the opportunity to absorb some of nature's benefits; they are places to listen to bands, gather for celebrations and to participate in volleyball, baseball, soccer, and golf; and they are places for children and families to play in the sand, swim in the pool or beautiful Lake Michigan, or run and/or walk around a track.
East Chicago is proud of its greenspace and the numerous park facilities add immensely to the quality of life in our wonderful community. We are dedicated to maintaining and improving these safe havens throughout the various neighborhoods.
The East Chicago Park & Recreation Team’s goal is to provide the highest quality recreational programs that aim to educate, challenge, and safeguard our citizens.
