General Information:

East Chicago provides free bus service to it's citizens. In the interest of our passengers' comfort, eating, smoking and/or radio playing is not permitted on ECT buses. All passengers are expected to wear shoes and shirts at all times while on the buses.

ECT buses will stop upon signal to driver, at any intersection along the route provided it is safe to do so. Please remain seated at all times until the bus comes to a complete stop. If you have any packages, place them at your feet. Do not leave bags/packages in the aisle of the buses.

ECT will not transport children under nine years old unless accompanied by an adult. If you are traveling with a child in a stroller, the child may not ride the bus in the stroller. Aisles must be clear of strollers. Child carriers can be placed in a seat or on the lap of the person responsible for the child. Stroller/Carrier combos must have the carrier removed and the stroller cleared from the aisle.

ECT buses are equipped with wheelchair lifts. Service animals accompanied by their trainers, small pets in carry-on travel cages and police dogs are permitted aboard ECT buses. Use our buses anywhere our fixed routes travel and enjoy the freedom of independence, allowing you to travel where and when you want without relying on anyone's assistance. If you do require some assistance or have a disability which may prohibit you from riding our regular bus, our Paratransit may be a service for you. For more information click on the Paratransit link on the left.
