Rental Registration

City of East Chicago, Indiana Ordinance No. 0-01-0017 requires owners of real property in the City of East Chicago, which real property is used as rental housing, to register all such properties on an annual basis. The Ordinance requires owners of rental properties to register annually at the East Chicago Building Department office, 4444 Railroad Avenue, East Chicago, Indiana, and pay an annual registration fee of $10.00 per street address of each rental property.

2008 Registration is currently in effect and is received Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00p.m.

Registration forms are available at the Building Department’s office or on the City’s website at www.eastchicago.com.  The forms must be completed by the owner or his representative, and submitted to this office for processing along with the rental registration fee of $10.00 per street address of each rental property.  Please submit one registration form per street address.
