Mayor Copeland’s Team Up Clean Up efforts are working!

The Adopt-a-Block program in East Chicago is taking off to a great start. Over 3 organization have participated in the program already and more are joining in every week. This is a great way to take pride in your community by keeping it clean.

The Next Adopt-a-Block clean up will be hosted by the Light of the World Church 4916 Wegg Street on Saturday, May 18th. The designated clean up area will be on the
149th - 150th block along Wegg and Reading Streets of East Chicago at 10 a.m. Come out and join the other 45 volunteers. For information on the church or to volunteer call Javier at 312-617-5221.

If you or your organization, business, or congregation is interested in teaming up with Mayor’s vision to keep our city clean, and volunteering at least one (1) – two (2) hours of your time, please call Steve Segura at 219-391-8206 and start your own Adopt-a-Block area. Help clean up our city!

WATERFRONT REVITALIZATION INITIATIVE PUBLIC MEETING

The City of East Chicago and SEH of Indiana will hosted a public meeting to gather public opinion on the proposed Waterfront Revitalization Initiative. This revitalization effort in East Chicago was initiated with the help of a grant from the Regional Development Authority. The seven million dollar grant was used in part to leverage private sector investment for the North Harbor projects.

Come join us and weigh in on the proposed project.

Mayor Copeland is encouraging the public to participate by attend the our 2nd public meeting on
